Righteous Media Blog Purpose

March 5th, 2009

After teaching people how to effectively communicate their story for the last 7 years, I decided to create a media outlet for the events, activities and newsworthy stories for churches and Christian-owned businesses.  Here are some guidelines for posts to this blog:

This is another way for search engines to pick up your information about your business or church.  When you write your post be sure to include the business or church name in the text.

Your post needs to be newsworthy - an event, award, promotion, community outreach project, a new contract, etc.  If you need ideas on what is newsworthy you can read articles at www.maximizeyourpublicity.com/articles.htm.

Include a link to your website so people can learn more about you.  Make sure to state the facts - the who, what, when, where, why and how much.  If additional contact info is needed, please provide it.

This is a tool to post newsworthy info about your business or church.  Please tell your friends so they can benefit as well.  Thanks!

Unique Dates for March Publicity

February 28th, 2009

Ah, the only date with a military command - 3/4 or March Fourth (forth) which is actually Hug a GI day.  Let’s show them some appreciation and be sure to tell the media what you are doing for them so the GI’s will hear about it!

March is National Chornic Fatigue Awareness Month, National Frozen Food Month and Small Press Month.  It also hosts National Professional Pet Sitters Week  as well as World Day of Prayer during the first week.  Of course there is St Patrick’s Day on the 17th.  National Cleaning Week is the last week followed by National Mom and Pop Business Owner’s Day.

You’ve got time to plan and prepare a special event this month.  With all these possibilities for activities be sure to implement a press release campaign to let people know what you are doing!

God wants to do awesome things for you

February 12th, 2009

Exodus 34:10 records God’s promise to do an awesome thing for the Israelites.  If they observe His commandments He promised to drive out their enemies before them.  All Israel had to do was not lose sight of who their God was.  God warned them about following after the false gods.

Today we still struggle with being seduced by things that would take our affection, time and attention away from God.  God still wants to do awesome things for us in our lives, but we have to remember that we can only serve one God.  We have to guard against things that would consume us and remove our passion for serving God with all our heart, soul and mind.

Ask God to show you what needs to be removed to open up the blessing so He can do something awesome in your life!

God’s Blessing in the Benediction

February 10th, 2009

Numbers 6:24 - 26 records what God told priests to declare over God’s children.  It really is powerful what God instructed them to say.  Declaring God’s blessings, favor, grace, peace are what we need to do with our family today.  Let’s look at what it says -

  • The Lord bless you and keep you
  • The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you
  • The Lord lift His countenance on you and give you peace

I want God’s face shining on me and watching over me, how about you?  I want God to be gracious to me.  I want Him to keep me.  I want Him to bless me.  I want Him to give me peace.  Let’s declare this over our friends and family because they want and need it too!

Lincoln’s Birthday Party

February 10th, 2009

The bicentennial celebration of Lincoln’s birth is a time to reflect on a man who overcame continuous challenges.  His life was not defined by the smooth path, but one of persistance, determination and faith in God.  His early reading material was the Bible, think of the great ethics and values he learned.  The timeless principles of how to be a good person, how to get along with others, examples of good leadership and patience.  I am sure he was inspired by his Biblical namesake Abraham who had opportunities to learn and practice patience as is took him years for the promised son Isaac to be born to him.

As we deal with challenges facing America today, let’s turn to the source where Abraham Lincoln learned the characteristics that led America through its darkest days.  Let’s read the Bible.

Gardening - a source of inspiration

February 10th, 2009

As God moves in the major things in our lives, He is faithful with the small things that bring us pleasure as well. I noticed yesterday that the garbonzo bean had finally developed a flower.  Finally.  The bean I bought at Sprouts designed for eating that looked completely void of life grew into a stock and finally after months of care & persistence flowered and by faith will eventually bring forth fruit.

Gardening has such great life lessons, no wonder Jesus used the garden in so many parables.

Abraham’s Blessing

February 2nd, 2009

Genesis 22 shows the trying of Abraham’s faith.  He obeys God and then is blessed in verse 17.  God blesses him.  That’s nice for Abraham, you might think, but how does that impact you?  Galations 3:14 says that Abraham’s blessing is available to the Gentiles through Jesus Christ.

That’s a blessing that doesn’t stop with Abraham, Isaac or even Jacob.  That blessing is available to everyone through faith in Jesus Christ.  That blessing God gave Abraham is available to you and I today.  If you have made Jesus Christ Lord and Saviour then blessing God blesses you.

Look for and recognize God’s blessings in your life.  Be grateful for those blessings.  Don’t take them for granted.

God, our Provider

February 1st, 2009

Jevohah jireh, the LORD will provide, is a powerful truth.  Genesis 22 is the story of Abraham and Isaac preparing for the sacrifice, when it turns out that God told Abraham to sacrifice the promised son Isaac.  Imagine waiting years for a promise and then having to sacrifice it.  Through Abraham’s example of faith and obedience to God Abraham has an opportunity to see another aspect of God,  God the provider.  If Abraham had not obeyed God, he would not have seen God’s miraclous ability of providing at just the right time.  There in the bushes was a ram, which Abraham saw only after he had Isaac on the altar and the angel stopped him from sacrificing him.  Talk about timing!

God is never late in His provision for us.  Listen to Him, obey Him and watch Him provide.

Using Creative Dates to Get Publicity

January 31st, 2009

Did you know January is National Financial Awareness Month?  Or that last week was Creative Frugality Week?  Financial planners, accountants and even banks could use these dates to provide a special PR campaign to generate exposure for them.  They could create a top ten list, post it on their website and send out a release to let the media tell consumers about the free information.  With the unique twist it would catch their eye.

How can you find these dates?  Each month I’ll list a few unusual dates, as well as a number of online sources.  First, what industry are you in - do they have a special date.  For example - if you are a coach the International Personal and Business Coaching Week is the first week of February.  Not only is February 14th Valentines Day, but also Arizona Statehood.

Other February celebrations include - American Heart Month, International Boost Self-Esteem Month, National Cherry Month & National Pet Dental Month.  The second week is Random Actos of Kindness Week, the third week is National Engineers Week and February 28 is Floral Design Day.

Put on your thinking cap - what can you come up with to create some useful information or event to create publicity?  If you need help, just give the Small Business Public Relations Coach a call!
