Great Movie - Confessions of a Shopaholic

Friday, March 6th, 2009

With all the push for glitz and glam and piling yourself under debt to achieve it, the timing of the release of this movie couldn’t have been better.  Living under the burden of debt was cleverly portrayed in this movie.  If you find yourself in a similar situation with too much stuff and mounting bills, one of my colleagues can help you sell your stuff.  If you need help, let me know and I’ll pass along her info to you.

Peace During the Storm

Friday, March 6th, 2009

As our economy is causing great anxiety among so many, it is a great time to reflect on all the verses the Bible has to offer about peace.

Let the peace of God keep your heart and mind is the instruction in Phillipians 4:7.

James 1:2-5 talks about the joys of trials.  Facing a trial strengthens our faith and ultimately our patience.

II Timothy 1:7 tells us God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind.  Have you noticed when fear creeps in your ability to think clearly is really challenged?  We have the ability to choose if we will allow fear to reign in our hearts and minds or if we’ll let God’s peace take hold.

Philippians 4:6-8 tells us not to be anxious or worry about anything.  But rather pray and let God’s peace guard our hearts and minds.  It goes on to say what we should think about - things that are honest, just, pure, virtuous, or praise worthy.  Let those things dwell in our hearts and minds.  Imagine how much healthier we would be if we quit worrying.

Finally, God’s phone number is found in Jeremiah 33:3 - “call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you don’t know”.  How is that for a free call!

Social Media and You

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Having been established in LinkedIn for several years, I began using Facebook in the last few months and just started using Twitter.  The possibilities for each application are impressive.

There needs to be a focus with your social media efforts.  The idea is still to effectively use these tools to help you tell your story.  What is it that your audience wants to or needs to know about your business?  What keywords will they use to search for you or competitor?  Keep these in the forefront when using social media.

The timeline has shrunk considerably for getting the word out.  Consider that you would submit your press release two to three months ahead of an event for a monthly publication.  Now you can broadcast it on your schedule to those in your distribution online.

While publications options have shrunk, they are still a valid tool for PR.  Don’t overlook the traditional media as a tool to help you tell your story.

If you need help with using social media to tell your story, let me know.  I’m speaking to groups to educate the boomers on how to use social media to grow their business.

Success in your Christian Life

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Ephesians 6:10-17 talks about the armor we to use in the spiritual battle which goes on every day.    We are to be strong in the Lord, in His power.  We are not fighting with people but rather with Satan, spiritual wickedness, the forces of evil.  God has provided us everything we need to stand and fight.

The tools include truth, righteousness, gospel of peace, shield of fiath, helmet of salvation, the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.  Every area is protected for a head on battle, and nothing for retreat.  We are to do everything to stand and continue to stand.

All of the items are designed to protect - helmet of salvation, feet shod with peace, etc. - except for the sword.  The sword which inflicts damage, is the word of God.  God’s word, that we are to meditate on day and night to make our way prosperous, is the tool, the weapon of choice to win victory over our spiritual battle.

What are you going to do to be more skilled with your sword of the Spirit?

Righteous Media Blog Purpose

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

After teaching people how to effectively communicate their story for the last 7 years, I decided to create a media outlet for the events, activities and newsworthy stories for churches and Christian-owned businesses.  Here are some guidelines for posts to this blog:

This is another way for search engines to pick up your information about your business or church.  When you write your post be sure to include the business or church name in the text.

Your post needs to be newsworthy - an event, award, promotion, community outreach project, a new contract, etc.  If you need ideas on what is newsworthy you can read articles at www.maximizeyourpublicity.com/articles.htm.

Include a link to your website so people can learn more about you.  Make sure to state the facts - the who, what, when, where, why and how much.  If additional contact info is needed, please provide it.

This is a tool to post newsworthy info about your business or church.  Please tell your friends so they can benefit as well.  Thanks!
